Manager - Tax

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of the Vice President – Tax, the Manager – Tax will be responsible in assisting with all aspects of income tax compliance, including federal and state tax, tax planning activities, and complete other projects as directed. Principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform REIT tests and REIT administration activities
  • Review federal and state tax returns for real estate investment trusts (“REIT”), partnerships and taxable REIT subsidiaries, including estimates and extensions
  • Review apportionment information for state tax returns
  • Assist in preparation of quarterly and annual income tax provision
  • Analysis of general ledger accounts for tax transactions including acquisitions and dispositions
  • Research federal and state tax issues and assist in the development of ongoing tax strategies in order to minimize tax liabilities
  • Assist in various other tax matters as needed, including ongoing review of tax procedures in order to streamline processes and minimize risk

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • BS in Accounting and CPA required. MST is a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years of public accounting with a Big 4 accounting firm
  • Experience in corporate and partnership income tax return preparation in a multi-state environment
  • Experience with REIT and International taxation is a plus

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

  • Excellent Microsoft Office computer skills, including Excel & Word
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong work ethic, team player with strong attention to details and ability to work independently
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, mathematical and sound judgment skills
  • Strong accounting, multitasking and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in tax software (ONESOURCE Income Tax preferred)
