Manager - Operational Accounting

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Senior Director - Operational Accounting, the Manager - Operational Accounting will provide accounting functions, financial reporting and analyses for the unconsolidated joint venture senior housing portfolio. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supervise a Senior Associate responsible for all aspects of accounting for the unconsolidated JV portfolio (senior housing)
  • Prepare and review monthly and quarterly reporting, which includes same store analyses, capital expenditure reporting, cash flow and distribution analysis, annual budget and monthly forecast, budget to actual variance reporting, and supplement and 10Q/K disclosures
  • Work closely with partner operators to monitor JV results
  • Review lease and loan documents and insure accuracy of accounting, including straight-line rent, maintenance of capital lease schedules and development and maintenance of loan schedules
  • Prepare schedules and provide supporting information for the external and internal audit
  • Support Asset Management and EVP in evaluating portfolio performance and new transactions
  • Participate in special projects which include the implementation of a data-warehouse reporting tool

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university, majoring in Accounting
  • 6-8 years of combined experience in Public Accounting and private industry
  • Expert knowledge using spreadsheet programs including Microsoft Excel
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Good working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Detail oriented, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Deadline and project oriented
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to make business recommendations
  • Teamwork and leadership capabilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
